Metaphor and More

Joseph Campbell was right

“God is a metaphor for that which transcends human comprehension.”

Yet, I dare say

God is not just a metaphor

God is metaphor

Interdependent

With the thing itself

Q:  Yet what is that Thing you say?

A:  It is the absolute sum and relation of each and every thing.

Q:  Yet is there really a fitting metaphor for that?

A:  Who knows, only God can say.

20^th century theologian Paul Tillich said, “Symbols are not just signs for something else.  Symbols participate in the very reality they reference”.
