phenomenologically

God is first and foremost detected phenomenologically
Which is just a fancy way of saying
That we first discover God with our hearts

For we can see things with our eyes
But until we see things with the center of our selves
We can’t know any deeper meaning of what we’re looking at

Yet sooner or later we require more objective evidence outside ourselves
For we agree that someone who has never doubted God
Has never really believed in God in the first place

So if God is to be seen as the source of all things
Then we expect to eventually find substantial evidence from all quarters
Beyond subjectivity, and beyond mere philosophical notions of God
We want God, if God should be, to appear plainly before us

For our hearts desire more than just a Prime Mover or an Apocalyptic Interventionist
As it turns out, Pan-en-theism shows us
Exactly the all-inclusive evidence we seek
And as being right there in front of us all along

For the instant we open our hearts in love toward all
(Which is, after all, the heart simply looking out at itself)
Then suddenly there God is
All around us, both imaged and incarnate alike

Of every rock, every critter
Of Every thought, every feeling
Of Every face, and every enemy

Beholding all things
With a heart big enough
To take in a universe of evidence
We find ourselves
Inextricably
IN God.
