To spite 'the knows' of God

What may we know of God?
But that which appears in spite of
The apparent nature of everything else

“Creation must have a Creator”, they say
In spite of the fact
That Creation is all that does display

Yet nonetheless
‘In spite of’
Perhaps the quintessential nature OF God

For truly?
That in spite of an Unconditioned Self-Sufficiency need come a creation?
Yet in spite of creation known there could be any innocence?
Yet in spite of innocence, such terrible acts of sin?
Yet in spite of sin, any means of mercy?
Yet in spite of mercy, full freedom?
Yet in spite of freedom, service?
Yet in spite of service?
still
unconditional love?

Don’t get me wrong
For while each of these alone
May appear dreadfully detached
Yet in spite of this
We trace a transcending trend

Alas, what may we know of God?
But that perhaps the quintessential nature of God
Is always revealed in spite of what we have come to know.

For this may we truly give thanks!
For to cut off a fiendish and furrowed Face
To spite "the knows" of God.

(Now there!  That should have kicked the ball out far enough
to now be in fair reach of everybody!)
